Monty was born in Ismay, Montana on November 27, 1927, the daughter of Frank and Ellen (Hanson) Neumann. She attended Whitney Creek Country School near Ismay. Following her schooling, she moved to Miles City where she worked at Woolworths. Monty married Nick Russiff on November 21, 1953 in Miles City. Nick and Monty moved to Olive to the Russiff Ranch where they ranched until 1988, when they moved to the Yellowstone Valley. After Nick died in 1994, she moved into Miles City.
Monty enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, cross-stitch, and gardening. She also enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors but most of all, spending time with her family.
Monty is survived by a son, Don Russiff and his wife Tanya of Harwood, ND; three daughters: Sandy Rabe and her husband Ric of Miles City, MT; Diana Elwood and her husband Chris of Belvidere, SD; and Mary Lou Russiff of Miles City, MT; six grandchildren, three sisters: Pat Kuehn of Terry, MT; Mary Ann Robinson of Beaverlodge, Canada; and Jackie Colbrese and her husband John of Billings, MT; two brothers: Robert Neumann and his wife Mikell of Baker, MT; and Charlie Neumann and his wife Betty of California; a sister-in-law, Joyce Neumann of Miles City, MT; and a brother-in-law, Hans Freestad of Vale, SD; she also adopted many special people into the family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Russiff; an infant son, Gary Linn Russiff; a sister, Mabel Freestad; a brother, Harold Neumann; a brother-in-law, Wayne Kuehn.
