Mya Sterling Willems, Hysham, MT
At 11:02 am on March 28, 2015, Mya Sterling Willems was welcomed into the world by her mommy, Billie Jean Willems and her grandparents Gary and Amy Kimberlin at Billings Clinic Family Birth Center in Billings, MT. Although she never took a breath, she left deep footprints with her little feet on many hearts.
When Billie found out she was pregnant with Mya at 16, soon to be 17, she of course was scared about being a young mom but as time went on and Mya grew and thrived, Billie quickly developed a strong love for her little miracle. Mya was stubborn from the start. When Billie had lost a close friend, Mya hung on even thru the severe stress. When it came time for the ultrasound, little Mya had decided that she was camera shy just like her great grandpa Billy Willems. She was bound and determined we would not find out that she was a little girl. Finally, on the second ultrasound she gave us a glimpse, even though she was so bashful she hid behind her arm as a superstar hides from the paparazzi. Her favorite past time was tucking her toes in mommy’s ribs just like her mommy did to her grandma.
Everyone prepared and grew more and more excited for her arrival. Her Nana Amy and Great grandma Laurie Willems crocheted their fingers to the bone, creating precious items made with love. Great uncle Shawn Willems wasn’t too sure about the “great” title as it made him feel old but he was more than ready to spoil his great niece to pieces. Grandpa Gary was repeatedly sent on errands to pick this and that up from the store as we set up for our precious bundle, and although he grumbled about shopping, he secretly enjoyed finding new items for his 1st grandbaby. Uncle Ian was busy planning his trip to come and see his new little niece when she arrived. Aunt Lilly learned to cross stitch and was making a pretty little bib for Mya and was excited for her soon-to-be new role as Auntie. Aunt Claralynn was excited for Mya to come and wanted to buy every single baby toy she lay her eyes on for “baby Mya” . Aunt Serena was so excited to spoil her baby niece and had plans to cover her from head to toe in pink.
Her very existence brought joy to her family sorely in need of happiness and light. We lost that light way too soon but will live our lives to the fullest in her honor.
Mya leaves behind her loving mommy, Billie Jean Willems of Hysham, MT, her dad, Curtis William Tellvik of Everett, WA, Grandparents Gary and Amy Kimberlin, Aunts Lillian and Claralynn Kimberlin, all of Hysham, MT, Aunt Serena Willems-Brosseau of Anaconda, MT, Uncle Ian Kimberlin of Stanley, ND, Grandparents Pauline and Dave Myers of Moses Lake, WA, Grandfather Curtis Tellvik of Everett, WA, Great Grandparents William and Laura Willems of Hysham, MT, Great grandpa Bill Kimberlin (Linda) of Lakeland, FL Great Uncle Shawn Willems (Christy, Cousin Shawnna Willems all of Hysham, MT, Aunt Jessica Olson of Snohomish, WA, Uncle Reuben Hinton of Everett, WA, Great Aunt Peggy Kimberlin North Charleston, NC, Great great grandpa Clarence (Alice) Arneson, Great great grandma Pattie Willems, all of Hysham, MT.
There was family in heaven waiting to fold her in their arms, surrounding her with light and love. Sweet Mya, I know I never got the chance to look into your soft eyes or touch your precious face, let alone to get the honor of meeting your beautiful mother and grandmother in person, but know that you will always and forever have a huge spot in my heart reserved for you my first angelic niece. Seeing your picture moments after entering this world gave my heart such mixed emotions, your obvious beauty stunned me and the mere thought that God decided he wanted all of your beauty to himself confused me and made my heart hurt. I can’t imagine the pain your mommy feels, I only know how it feels to have children and the immense joy it brings the heart, I couldn’t bare that feeling being reversed. May God protect you and the angels surround you because you deserve the best of company, I love you sweet Mya rest easy.

Sending you, Curtis (My grandson) and Mya my deep condolences. I know the pain is deep and not understandable. Only God knows why and we have to leave it with him thought it might be hard. I pray for your heart to heal and they say “Time heals all wounds” it does take time. I feel for you and all the familys and pray for peace for your hearts. I do feel your pain as my daughter went through the same thing years ago and I know it’s not easy, but you will come through this. Your angel is now in Heaven in the arms of our Heavenly Father singing with the angels and meeting all the family members who went before her. I will keep you in my prayers. Love you Curtis and I’m so sorry !

Sorry….I need to correct my writing. It should have read: Sending you Curtis (My grandson) and Billie Jean my deep condolences.

I was very happy and excited when I learned that my dear friend, Amy, was going to be a grandma! I looked forward to seeing Billie’s weekly photos of Mya growing. I remember Amy telling me about the name picked out; Mya Sterling. Such a beautiful name! I loved seeing the beautiful crocheted items that were made by Amy and her sweet mom , Laurie . I was so excited when Billie’s due date grew near. We were hoping to be able to send Mya beautiful gifts in the future. I felt like an Auntie.
When I heard that Mya has gone to Heaven,I cried my heart out from the terrible pain her family is going through. I feel so terrible that we live so far away and can’t be there in person to comfort them. So terribly sorry for your loss and know we are sending love , prayers, and hugs to you during this sad time:(
