Neil Herman Berg, 84, died July 9, 2004 at Northeast Montana Health Services Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point, MT.
Neil, a son of Paul and Ida Berg, was born March 22, 1920 in Acton Township by Litchfield, MN. Son Jeffery and Debbie Berg of Wolf Point, daughter Roxy and Russ Houck of Billings and Wibaux, granddaughter Nicole Berg of Helena, grandson Trenton Berg of Bozeman, very special companion Jan McFerran of Wolf Point and sister Nellie Martin of Grove City, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews survive Neil.
His parents, his wife Marjorie, infant son Bruce, six brothers, five sisters and numerous nieces and nephews preceded him in death.
He married Marjorie D. Bachman on November 25, 1944 in Litchfield, MN. He owned and operated a farm in Darwin, MN and in 1959 he and his family moved to Montana where they farmed 35 miles northeast of Wolf Point. They also had a home at the Airport Addition and shared their time between this home and the farm. In 1975, they moved to the Airport Addition permanently and they spent 13 years enjoying the winters in Apache Junction, AZ with friends. Upon the death of Marjorie, Neil continued to spend his winters in Arizona. Neil's love of life included his family and farm. One of his favorite past times was playing pool with his friends, where many a tournament was won with his famous bank shots. Many hours were spent building fish houses with Jeff so they could spend time together spearing fish, which included his 1984 Montana record Walleye Pike for which he held the record for many years. Another past time was hunting with his dog, Duke and shooting coyotes from Jack Roberts and Hardy Andersons airplanes. His favorite sport was to watch baseball. He was also known by many for the beautiful manicured lawn and his garden produce that fed the whole neighborhood and town friends. Christmases in Arizona were special because Roxy shared many with him. He was very proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
