Nell Popp, age 87 ofBroadus, Montana passed away on Monday, May 2, 2005 at the Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Nell was born on June 27, 1917 in Olive, Montana, the daughter of Frank L. and Eathel L. Hulford. She was raised on the family ranch and attended the Sam Smith School and graduated from high school in Broadus. Following her schooling, Nell worked for the WPA as a secretary and then moved to Miles City for a short time where she worked at the U.S. Gardens as a waitress. On November 1, 1947, Nell and John Popp were united in marriage in Miles City. They lived in the Espie andSonnette area until moving to Broadus in 1978 where she has resided since. She began babysitting for local families which she continued up until the time of her death. Nell enjoyed embroidering, her flower garden and was a wonderful cook. She especially enjoyed being around her family and grandkids.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Garber and his wife Carol of Mead, WA, three daughters; Sandy Trucano of Rosette, WY, Sherry and her husband Terry Considine and Tami and her husband John Schoenbeck all of Broadus, seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two sisters,Baye Schoonover of Broadus, MT and Myrtle May of Biddle, MT and a brother Giles Smith of Corvallis, MT.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Becky, and a sister Mildred Steadman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2005 from 1:00 8:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Powder River Congregational Church in Broadus. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Valley View Cemetery in Broadus. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.
