Nelle Butcher, age 90, of Gillette, Wyoming, died April 29, 2004 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.
Nelle G. Butcher was born July 13, 1913 the daughter of Colin and Anne (Fleury) Williams in Sheridan, Wyoming. She attended country schools on the Powder River and graduated from Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming. Upon her graduation in 1928, Nelle went to Ohio to get her training as a teacher. She returned to Wyoming and taught to rural schools. In 1937, she married Eric Lindquist. The couple made their home in Wildcat, Wyoming. After her husband's death in 1958, she and her son moved to town (Gillette). In 1962, she remarried Clarence Butcher. Nelle continued to be a homemaker. After Clarences death in 1984, she moved into the Pioneer Apartments and was a resident there until 2000. She then moved into the Beehive Apartments, a place she loved. It made for a difficult adjustment when she became a resident at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home.Nelle is remembered for playing Bridge with her friends, driving 20 miles to town everyday no matter what the weather.
She is survived by one daughter, Elynor Little Wolf of Billings, Montana; one son, Dan Lindquist of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Mary Beth Royal of Red Lodge, Montana; two step sons: Bill Butcher of Custer, South Dakota; Jacques Butcher of Houston, Texas; and two step daughters: Anita Stewart of Denver, Colorado; and Jane Murry of San Macros, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husband's, four sisters and one brother.
