In Memory Of

Nelleen Phipps, age 63, of Brusett

September 2, 1952 – March 30, 2016

Nelleen Phipps, age 63, of Brusett, MT passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

Nelleen Rose was born September 2, 1952 at Jordan, MT to Lyle & Margaret O’Connor. She grew up on the family ranch where she attended elementary school. After graduating from Garfield County District High School in 1970, she worked briefly as a CNA before marrying David Phipps on October 2, 1970.

Nell loved being a ranch wife and mother. She was happiest riding her horse, gardening, canning, sewing and taking care of her family. Later, she was blessed with an abundance of grandchildren, each one holding a special place in her heart. She opened her home not only to her grandchildren, but to their friends as well. Everyone affectionately called her Grandma Nell, knowing they could count on her for a hug, a listening ear, a home cooked meal and a place to stay.

Nell was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she generously donated her time and talent. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort throughout her life, especially during her illness.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband, David and her parents. She is survived by her children, Jason (Colleen) Phipps, Clayton (Lisa) Phipps and Natali (Ben) Murnion; her treasured 18 grandchildren; her siblings, Bill (Sue) O’Connor, Dick (Arlene) O’Connor, Sally Ross, Jim (Dolly) O’Connor and Mike (Jean) O’Connor.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. A Rosary will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan. Jason, Clayton, Natalie and all of Nell’s precious grandchildren:
Nell was a special lady who planted laughter and smiles each day she was given. Nell walked out an incredible example of living faith one day at a time as she cared for David through his illness. She and David were so happy, and now they are enjoying eternal peace and rejoicing together. Her crown on the other side will be incredible! Our prayers and hearts are with all of you. Goodbyes are tough, but she would tell you to focus on the fun times, the learning times, the smiling times…. For that is where the healing lies.
