Nelson J. Crowe, age 71, of Poplar, Montana passed away February 18, 2009 in Poplar, Montana after a battle with cancer.
Nelson was born February 16, 1938 to Theodore Crowe and Inez Thompson in Poplar, Montana. He attended Poplar schools.Nelson married Mary J. Shawl on February 25, 1995.Nelson retired from the BIA after 20 years of service. Nelson enjoyed fishing with his adopted brothers, Carl Lambert, Wayne Martell and Colten Meisner, teasing his friends and coworkers, reading football and shopping.
Nelson is survived by his wife Mary; stepsons Chris and Ryan of Browning; his Buddy dog Buttons H. Crowe; half sister Evadna Running Bear and family of Poplar; daughters Delores Crowe; grandson Douglas Todd; granddaughter Tamara Todd; one special great-granddaughter Ashlynn LaFromboise; great-grandsons, Kaiden LaFramboise and Houston Todd, all of Riverside; Connie (Eddy) Smith and family of Riverside; Dolly Crowe and family of Poplar; son Charlie Crazy Bull and family of Poplar; and numerous other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his father, Theodore Crowe and his mother, Inez Pretty Bear Thompson; brothers, Louis Longee and Archie Red Elk; sisters, Mary Jane Longee Howerton, Clara Longee Welch, Frances Smith Hitchcock, Irene Red Elk Red Dog and Vera Red Elk Growing Thunder; and one great-grandson, Zaine Todd.
