Nick Ray Ashby

Visitation: will be one hour prior to services at the church

Funeral Services: Thursday, August 7, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

Nick Ray Ashby, age 35, of Gillette, died Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 7, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Gillette with Pastor Chad Brucklaucher officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Nick Ashby was born August 31, 1967, in Havre, Montana, the son of Rita Doney, and later adopted by George Ashby Sr. He was raised and educated in Gillette, WY.

Nicks love for competitive Motocross led him to founding Powder Basin Motocross where he also started and developed the track. He also developed the initial Powder River Basin Methane drives, which were used as a template for all others.

Nick was a devoted husband and father. He and his wife loved watching and supporting their girls in basketball. Watching Looney Toons and playing with their dog, Duke was a special time for Nick and his girls, Paige and Kaycee.

Nick enjoyed fishing, hunting, and many outdoor activities. He was a great cook. Nick also liked to tinker with electronics. He was spiritual, had a great sense of humor, and was always there for his friends. He was very caring with a big heart. Nick lived life Full Throttle.

Nick Ray Ashby is survived by his wife, Deana Ashby of Gillette, WY; two daughters: Paige and Kaycee Ashby of Gillette, WY; brothers: George Ashby Jr. of Rawlins, WY, Roy Cochran of Montana; sister, Gina Waters of Fort Worth, TX; Father George Ashby Sr. of Rawlins, WY; biological father, Lyle Cochran of Montana; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Nick was preceded in death by his mother, Rita and his grandparents.

Donations to benefit Nicks daughters in lieu of flowers may be sent to the family in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home at 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716.
