January 28, 1985 – January 29, 2018

Nicole Leann Kennedy (Nikki), a beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter, niece, and friend passed away on January 29, 2018 due to an automobile accident. Nikki was born in Billings on January 28, 1985 to her parents Dan and Mary. Her two children, Brody Quinn 8, and Tuff Mathews 11 months, were the center of her world. She graduated from Forsyth High School with the class of 2003, attended one year of college at the U of M, and was working towards completion of a Medical Transcriptionist program. She worked at numerous jobs in the Forsyth area, and most recently with Yellowstone Environmental Contractors in Miles City.

Nikki grew up in Forsyth but considered herself “Butte Irish” in addition to a Dogie, and she referred to herself as the “Little Irish Girl”. Nikki was very active in school and the community her whole life, she: danced in the Nancy Nile Dance Class, member of Howard Ag 4H, Club, piano lessons, an active member of her church, Forsyth Swim Team, High School Golf and Volleyball Teams, FCCLA, Band, and Cheerleader. She was also very involved in Forsyth Chamber activities and Forsyth Women’s Golf.

Nikki was always independent, free spirited, open hearted and happy go lucky, with the biggest smile you could find. She loved to share her talents, her ability to cook and bake for people and would take on the task for anyone at any time at the drop of a hat. Nikki was happy that she found the job that she really loved with YEC.

She is survived by her two sons Brody and Tuff, special friend Casey, Mother Mary, Father Dan, Grand Mother Donna, Aunts and Uncles; Ray (Sarah) DuBois, Bernadette Hayes, Yvonne DuBois, Joe DuBois, Annette (Dan) Richter, John DuBois, Mike and Chris (Deb) Kennedy, Bunny (Charles) Aumell, Mike (Christy) McGrath. Along many cousins and numerous extended Cousins. She is preceded in passing by her Aunts Connie Jo, Margaret and Jana, special cousin Devin Kennedy, Grandparents Ray and Mary DuBois, and Grandfather Mike Kennedy and Uncles Charles McGrath, Joe and Jack Kennedy, Aunts Dodie and Millie.

A celebration of Nikki’s life and rosary will be from 4 – 6pm Friday, February 9th at Stevenson’s and Sons in Forsyth, and requiem mass will be celebrated beginning at 11:00am Saturday, February 10th at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forsyth.

……..I start with an ellipsis because words elude me. Billy Joel probably said it best, “only the good die young.”

Church, school, babysitting her, youth trips, nights out, watching her with the boys, watching Montana play at her home in the summer, snuggling that baby when she brought him to the farm…..I hope you find comfort that every memory of every moment is goodness, laughter, love, a little silly, and a lot Nikki.

I am so beyond words sorry for you. Sending love from Michigan ~ Kacey

    February 2, 2018 at 7:58 am

I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Nikki’s family. For right now, there’s no detour around grief, no shortcut through mourning. However, 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, “… power beyond what is normal “, to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry, or that we forget. It means we recover. We recover because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28 which says, “… all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out “. Jesus was referring to the resurrection. That is our amazing hope! The Bible likens our hope to an anchor. Just like an anchor stabilizes a ship, our hope stabilizes us and keeps us from drowning in overwhelming sadness. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, “… the God of all comfort “. One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort be your comfort now, during this time of sorrow. I offer my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Nicole Kennedy, I know that I don’t know you, what you are feeling or what you are going through, but I would like to share with you what brings me comfort in hopes that you will find comfort as well. That comfort comes from Jehovah Gods word the Bible, it gives us a wonderful hope for the future to help us cope with the present, overcome the past, and give us something to strive for so we can walk with determination toward the future. There are countless scriptures in the bible that bring us comfort but this one stood out to me. Revelation 21:3, 4 says “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. 4  And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Jehovah God himself promises that one day in the future he will bring back our loved ones to a life of perfect health and happiness on a paradise earth. Where the stinging pain of death will never reach us and we will only feel the joy of everlasting life.

    Dear Dan &Mary,
I wish she did not have to go so soon. Nikki was one of the first people I remember meeting at day care at the Babtist church. I was 4 or 5. I remember it was nap time and Nikki and I were talking. We got in trouble. When I was in 4H I knew she was my friend and that was the thing so special about Nikki. She didn’t know a stranger. She was so friendly and outgoing. I still cannot believe she is gone. She lives on through her sons. Rest In Peace dear Nikki. We love you.

To the Kennedy Family and Nikki’s boys,
I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to make it to the services for Nikki. Honestly there isn’t anything that I can say about Nikki that hasn’t already been said. Howevere, she was a wonderful young lady she and I am extremely honored to of been able to say she was a friend of mine.
She will be dearly missed. God definitely gained a beautiful angel. May you find some comfort in knowing that she is watching over everyone.
My sincere condolences to all of you!
