Our Brother and Uncle, Nolan Bruce Birthmark went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2006.
He was born on September 15, 1961 to Clarence Birthmark and Eunice Shields Alfrey in Poplar, MT. Nolan Graduated from Poplar High School in 1980. In high school he played football and basketball. While in high school he got an honorable mention for outstanding athletic achievement in basketball for the 1979-80 season. His team took 3rd at State in Class B. After high school he attended Haskell College in Lawrence, Kansas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting pool and visiting with all his friends.
Nolan was always a peaceful person with a gentle smile. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by two sisters, Diana Martin and Sandra Birthmark both of Poplar; a brother, Sheldon Birthmark of Poplar; nephews & nieces, Nathan, Jimmy, John and Claudette Chase, Jonnie Youpee and Leanda Eder all of Poplar, Coke Chase and Robert Birthmark of Wolf Point, William Birthmark of Ronan, MT, Heather Birthmark of Glasgow, MT, Jennifer and Sheldon Birthmark of Billings, MT; his adopted parents, Kenneth Sr. and Theresa Smoker; adopted mother, Betty Ann Black Dog; and adopted brother, John Morsette all of Poplar. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Joyce and Clarice Birthmark and Sharon Owens, and brothers, James, Darryl, Kermit and Lynn Birthmark.
A wake will be held Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the Poplar Cultural Center starting at 4 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, May 8, 2006 at the Poplar Cultural Center at 10 a.m. with burial following at the Fort Kipp Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point is entrusted with arrangements.
