In Memory Of

Norma Gorder, age 85, of Broadus

June 7, 1936 – February 24, 2022

Norma Ann “Dolly” Rath Gorder

Norma Gorder, age 85, passed away after a brief illness on February 24, 2022 in Miles City, MT.

Norma was born in Bowman County, ND on June 7, 1936 to parents Emil & Leona Rath.  She went to school in Scranton, ND.  Norma enjoyed all sports and participated in many throughout her life.

On May 2, 1955, Norma married Clarence Gorder.  They spend most of their married life in eastern Montana.  Norma was a people person.  She chose jobs that allowed her to be are them as much as possible.

Norma’s favorite pastimes included knitting and reading.   She made beautiful baby sweaters and gave them to family and friends for new additions to their families.   She enjoyed being with her family.  She especially liked birthdays & holidays because that meant her family would be together.

Norma and Clarence had five children:  Connie Gorder, James (Tracey) Gorder, Dale Gorder, Bill (Brenda Hopkins) Gorder, and Alva Pulver.  Through these children they were blessed with ten grandchildren:  Kristal (Jeffrey) Craig, Brandon Pulver, Brooke Pulver, Michael Gorder, Mathew (Britney) Gorder, Daniel Gorder, Caitlin (Tylor Brown) Gorder, Jolene Lovett, Josh (Teri) Hopkins, and Jessie Vaughn.  They extended their family further with 17 great-grandchildren:  Jennalynn, Jerrick and Julianna Craig; Dominic and Abigail Gorder; Bradley Brown; Ivy Hopkins and Cedar Lovett; Victoria and Christopher Hopkins, Adrian Mellen, Jessica, Emilio and Rozilyn Hopkins; Brian Hopkins, Hailey Ferris, and Cadence Hopkins.  Norma’s family was extended even further with one great great-grandson: Gray Alto.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, several sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Powder River Manor for taking such great care of Norma during her stay.

Services will be at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting:  www.stevensonandsons.com.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Broadus Volunteer Fire Department, the Alzheimer Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. During my time at the manor Norma was quiet but sweet and had the nicest smile. She was always up early sitting at the nurses station and gave me that smile as I was on my way to my morning coffee. God bless and comfort you all.

I loved visiting with Norma for many years at the Powder River Manor. My two therapy dogs, Allie and Murphy loved her. I will miss her so much I’m so sorry for your loss I remember her in high school days in Broadus, too. Praying for all the family. It is a great loss . The manor is family. A community that becomes family at the manor .

My first memories of Norma involved hanging out with my sister in Belle Creek back in the 80s, the one most prominent in mind is taking a trip to James and Tracey’s house, being driven there by Norma in the Belle Creek Store grocery truck. Her hearty laugh is also one that won’t be forgotten. Peace and comfort to you all…..Clarence has his arms open and a ready (and always funny) joke waiting for Norma to share. Together again….

Many great memories with Norma back in the 70’s and then a pleasant surprize to find her back here and rooming with Mom! Many more visits with her and we could always laugh and have fun. She will be missed.
