Norma Jean “Honey” Peterson passed away on Sunday morning, October 10, 2021 at the age of 87 at Glendive Nursing Center. Norma Jean was born in Glendive on July 24th, 1934, the youngest of four children, in a four year time frame, to Mary Adelaide (Green) Starr and Clarence Henry Starr.
Mom and Dad met in 1949 at a dance at the old Montana Inn on a school night, she was just 15 and Dad 22. Dad thought she was a bit older and we believe Mom’s folks thought Dad was a wee bit younger! Upon graduating from Dawson County High School, they married on August 29, 1952.
Norma Jean spent her life rearing their four kids and helping with Dad’s mechanic business “Danny’s Auto Repair” at the house. She was quite the decorator; hanging wallpaper being one of her many talents. Mom was also quite athletic playing softball and skiing (of both types) in her younger years; bowling and golfing into her later years, making numerous friendships along the way. Her love of dancing though, topped all other activities! Mom was also a lifelong member of the Glendive United Methodist Church.
The folks traveled to Germany, Alaska and many trips to Vegas and Laughlin. They leased property at Fort Peck Lake for over 35 years and spent every available weekend there. Later on, they went south for 15 years to St. George, UT for a couple months every winter enjoying golfing with new and old friends.
Mom was such a social butterfly and was a friend to all she met. She will be missed immensely by so many! Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Charles “Danny” Roscoe Peterson, Peggy (Michael) Allen of Kila, MT, Tracy (Jim) Toman of Maple Valley, WA, Rod (Cheryl) Peterson of Sidney, MT and Judy (Jim) Rowse of Billings MT; brother Norman “Bunky” (Lorraine) Starr, sister Betty “Dolly” Sauther; eight grandkids and seven great grandkids; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Calda “Sissy” and nephew Mark Lunde.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Glendive Methodist Church in Glendive, MT. Interment will follow in the Dawson County Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

I always enjoyed your Mom. She and I shared the same birthday and we always laughed about that. She was fun, we golfed and bowled the same league. She always greeted people with a big smile. My thought, prayers, and deepest sympathy to all of you.

Cousin Betty called me and told me of your mother passing. It’s been many years since I last saw her, but I remember her very well and thought of her often – I so enjoyed visiting with her and your dad whenever I would come to Glendive and stay with Aunt Mary and Uncle Clarence. Your Uncle Duane was my Dad. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Diane (Green) Nees
