Norma T. Svihovec, age 78 passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014 in Billings, MT.
Norma was born November 18, 1935 in Mott, ND to Henry H. & Rose C. (Neuman) Miller. She was raised on the farm and attended Timber Creek Country Grade School south of Mott. She attended school in New England, ND, Oakland, CA, and Sacred Heart School in Miles City, MT. She graduated from Mott HS in 1953 and she enrolled at Presentation School of Nursing – Holy Rosary Unit, at Miles City, MT where she received her Diploma and Registered Nursing License in 1957.
Norma married Burnell Henry Svihovec, a Mott native on August 18, 1958. Norma moved with her husband Burnell as he worked as a pharmacist in Mott, ND, Glendive, Miles City, Circle, and Terry, MT. They owned the Terry Drug Store upon Burnell’s retirement.
Norma had many hobbies including knitting, sewing, ceramics, painting, walking, woodworking and biking. She loved working in her yard and gardening. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and pinochle.
Norma is survived by her husband Burnell, daughter Vicki (Jeff) Makelky of Big Piney, WY, sons, Bernard (Kim) Svihovec of Colstrip, MT, and Mitchell Svihovec of Billings, MT and grandsons, Aaron (Megan), Eric, and Calvin Makelky; and one great grandchild. She is also survived by one brother, Frank L. Miller of Mott, ND, two sisters, Agatha L. (Miller) Harbac of Bozeman, MT and Blanche R. (Miller) Avery of Albany, OR; one sister-in-law, Anne Miller of St. Cloud, MN; one step-sister, Helen Swanson of Miles City, MT along with numerous cousins, nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; five brothers, Norbert, Lawrence, Melvin, Maurice, & Wilfred Miller; one sister, Agnes M. (Miller) Walker; three step-brothers, Joseph, Donald & Patrick Miller; one step-sister, Margaret (Miller) Shy; and sisters-in-law, Harriet (Larson) Miller, Leona (Kritzberger) Miller & Patricia (Mullin) Miller.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Terry. Rite of Committal will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Terry is in charge of the arrangements.
