In Memory Of

Oliver Wounded Eye, age 57, of Lame Deer

January 6, 1968 – November 23, 2025

Oliver Charles Wounded Eye, 57, of Lame Deer, MT passed away peacefully on Sunday November 23rd, 2025.
Oliver was born in Crow, MT to Melvina Wounded Eye & Leonard American Horse on January 6th, 1968. He attended elementary school in Busby, MT & later in the Mormon Placement Program in WA. He then moved home to Busby for the rest of schooling and later received his GED and then got his degree in law enforcement in Dickinson, ND. Oliver then traveled to Duluth, MN to be with his aunt Rosella Rider where he worked as a security officer at the Fon Du Luth Casino where he would meet his first wife Jennifer and marry in 1992 and they would have two daughters, Tessa & Amanda in 1993 & 1994.
Oliver then went on to pursue his dreams of being a true cowboy and traveled with the rodeo, bronc riding. He could break in a horse in under 20 minutes. Oliver also rode for the N.C. Nation in the memorial ride for the Custer Battlefield five years in a row.
He settled in Crow Agency for some years and eventually made his way back home to the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. There he became a firefighter and would continue to serve for 15 years. Oliver surveyed the lands working with the EPD and loved being out in nature and learning about what the land of his people was made up of. He then married his childhood sweetheart, Theresa Crazymule in Sheridan, Wyoming in 2014. Oliver made friends wherever he went and was the kind of person who would walk two miles if it meant you only had to walk one. He had a passion for horses, dancing to old country and rock music, drawing, reading, and was always cracking jokes. His laugh will be remembered by all who knew him. In his last moments he was still giving by donating his kidneys that are now going to save the life of another.
Oliver is survived by his; father Leonard American Horse, daughters & grandchildren Tessa Marie (Jax & Jayson), Amanda Rose (Corbin, Soren, Sawyer, Willow), wife & step children Theresa Crazymule (James, Roy, Trina, Marybeth, Charley), Sister’s Sharron American Horse, Clementine Morrison & children, nephew Johnathan American Horse, Trayl Roundstone, Aunt Imelda Barney (Collins & Ahnoh), Aunt Joyce Wounded Eye (Roxanne Wounded Eye & Spring Bearcomesout and Waylon & Chase Barber, Bobby & Keenan Jefferson), Uncle’s Melvin & Davis Wounded Eye (Meredith & Marcus Wounded Eye), cousins and Ronnette Bighead (Darian & Briton) & Lonnie Bighead, Victor Kennedy, Billie Joy White Wolf, Stephanie Killsontop, Tracy, Burt & Beda Rider & children, Kevin Whiteman & children, grandchildren (Legacy, Niomi, Zoey, Hunter, Rex, Emilia, Julia, Roylea, Aaron, Arrow, Amythist, Darrian, Aubrey, Eliana, Rosella, Mariah, Joylyn) niece and nephews (Athena, Anthea, Tonya, Angelica, Kanea, Native, & Colton), relatives (Ryan’s, Standing Elk’s, Bear Chum’s, White Hawk’s, Russel’s, Kills On Top’s, Wallowing’s, Medicine Top’s, Fighting Bear’s, Whiteman’s, White Dirt’s, Sooketis’, Yellow Robes’, Little Old Man’s, Three Fingers’, Looks Behind’s).
