In Memory Of

Ora L Bigback-Price age 55 of Woodbridge VA & Lame Deer

September 30, 1957 – September 15, 2013

Ora Louise (Big Back) Price, Hoo’ohta’e- “Corn Woman” was born Sept. 30, 1957 in Crow Agency, MT to Eugene (Clarice) Big Back, Sr. and Gloria Big Back (Redneck Fisher) the latter of whom  preceded her in death.  Maheo called her home after a sudden and unexpected illness on Sept. 15, 2013. Gone much too soon, she is survived by her husband Daryl E. Price, two children: daughter Denisha, son Daryl Eugene “Gene” Big Back-Price and her grandson Daryl E. Price II.

The State Cross Country Champ in 1975, she attended Freeman College (in SD) on full scholarship before joining the United States Air Force in 1978. Service to our country included one tour of duty in Korea before retiring at the Pentagon in 1994. Her military awards include: Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster (OLC), Air Force (AF) Commendation Medal- 2 OLC, AF Achievement Medal, AF Good Conduct Medal- 4 OLC, and the National Defense Medal.

After completing volunteer work teaching children she began civilian work for the United States Army where she remained in different capacities (including grief counseling families of the 9/11  victims) until her recent second retirement.  She received the Department of the Army Commander Award for Civilian Service.

She was a “straight shooter” that would help anyone in need; who loved her family and her beloved Denver Broncos. She especially enjoyed spending her free time with her grandson which included doing volunteer work at his school.

Her Surviving Aunts are: Cecilia, Nancy, Bertha, Marie, Phyliss  Fisher Spang and Magoo  Shoulderblade; Surviving Uncle: Leonard Wolf Black; Brothers and Sisters: Eugene Jr., Eugenia (Ken) Duhart, Charles Sr. (Debra), Benno Sr. ,  Larry (eldest first cousin), Elisha (adopted daughter of her mother Gloria Big Back), and Starr (adopted son of Eugene Big Back Sr.).

Preceding her in death are her mother Gloria Big Back (Redneck Fisher) and her brother Harry Big Back as well as her grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

Please accept our apologies. Because our family is so large we have included the family names in place of listing the remaining individual family members: Bear Chum, BellyMules, Big Back, Big Left Hand, Black Wolf, Club Foote, Elk Shoulders, Fighting Bear, Fishers, Harris, His Bad Horse,  Limberhands, Little Coyote, Little Wolf, Locher, Looks Behind, Rednecks, SandCrane, Shoulderblades, Spang, Standing Elk, Stands In Timber, White Moon, White Shield, Wolf Blacks, Yellow Robes.  We do not mean to leave anyone out.

Her childhood friends include: Aline Kills On Top, Ethelene Stump and Doreen Limberhand.

We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. You know she cared for you all

Dear family and friends of Ora Louise Price – please be comforted by the Bible hope of a resurrection (John 5:28, 29). In the Bible book of Genesis, we take note that God intended for mankind to live in Eden, which was a paradise where everything was “very good” (Gen 1:31) Suffering and death was not a part of God’s original purpose but was introduced through Adam’s disobedience (Romans 5:12). ). Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, hope of everlasting life was restored. We are promised that suffering and death will be eliminated (Revelation 21:4). Cherish all the happy memories of Mrs. Price and find comfort in Bible promises (John 17:3).

The passing of this great lady was a shock to many and she will be greatly missed. It was my pleasure to work with and joke with her on a daily basis while working with FMWRC in DC. She made working a pleasure as no matter what the conversation was she found time to talk about her family and how much she enjoyed going home at the end of the day so she could do family support. Our prayers and condolences are with you at this time of loss. Her memories will last forever. Respectfully,
