Orin Ranum, age 92 of Miles City, Montana formerly of Knowlton, passed away on April 29, 2006 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care.
Orin was born on April 11, 1914 in Reeder, North Dakota the son of Ole H. and Julia O. (Torgerson)Ranum. At an early age he moved with his family to Foundation, Montana, southeast of Knowlton, where they homesteaded. Orin attended grade school at Foundation and high school at Ismay. After his schooling, he served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. Following his discharge from the service, Orin returned to the family ranch where he lived most of his life until moving into Miles City in 1996.
Orin loved being on the ranch, and being around his animals. He also enjoyed vehicles and pickups which he had several of. He was a member of the American Legion in Baker and the VFW in Miles City.
Orin is survived by a special niece, EllenDockter and her husband Milton of Baker, MT and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and eleven brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Knowlton Cemetery. Should friends wish, condolences may be sent to the family by visitingwww.stevensonandsons.com. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
