Owen Murnion, age 38, of Jordan

July 10, 1976 – February 12, 2015

Owen Aaron Murnion, age 38, of Jordan passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 in Jordan as a result of a farming accident.

Owen was born on July 10, 1976 to Joseph and Beverly (Robertson) Murnion in Miles City, MT. He attended grade school at Jordan Public Schools, and graduated from Garfield County High School in 1994. After graduating, he attended Miles Community College where he completed his two year associates degree in general business. After college, he was a trapper for Garfield County and also worked for the United States Department of Agriculture, and for Wildlife Services. He married Briana Weeding on June 3, 2006. Committed to his family, they moved to the family ranch west of Jordan in 2010 where he started his farming and ranching business. Owen and his father Joe custom combined for a few years together in Garfield County. He started off raising sheep and moved into the cattle business as well. Recently he finished building the house they always wanted, where they could raise their seven children. Owen loved to snowmobile, hunting, fishing and was an avid trapper. He was also very skilled in carpentry. There was not a project around that Owen would not try and tackle from building an entire house, to making grill guards for pickups-he was truly an amazing jack of all trades. Owen was very involved with Community Bible Church in Jordan. He was the church treasurer, led men’s bible studies and was a big part in helping remodel the church.

Owen is survived by his wife Briana of Jordan; his seven daughters: Siera, Taylor, RaeLynn, Alyssa, Ashley, Hannah & Hayden all of Jordan; his parents Joe & Bev Murnion of Jordan; a sister Berta Murnion of Rosewell, GA; his brother Ray Murnion of Lovell, WY; his sister Kim (Rick) Flotkoetter of Miles City. Owen is also survived by three nieces and three nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garfield County High School Gymnasium.  Interment will follow in the Pioneer Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.   75. I learned of this terrible tragedy last night from Katrina (Phipps) Luther (Saturday the 14th) at the MCC High Class Buckaroo Bash. I was utterly shocked. I remember Owen well from when he attended MCC. I really enjoyed having him in class and visiting with him during the years he attended MCC. My deepest condolences go to the family, as well as to the entire Garfield County. To say that this is a devastating loss is a gross understatement.

  90. Dearest Briana, We have never met but our story is somewhat the same. I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband, Owen. From my reading he was a wonderful husband, father and friend. The Lord called my husband “home” at the age of 37, it was an accident of sorts the wind picked him up and his head struck a large rock. We have four children. And were members of a Bible Church in Great Falls, MT. My husband was the church treasurer. You can follow the reasons why I am drawn to your situation and praying for you and your children.   92. I am very sorry to hear of the death of someone so young & with such a loving family. Please be assured that God hates the pain of death also. That is why he has promised at Rev 21:4 to “wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more.” What a wonderful promise from our Heavenly Father. Jesus verified this at John 5:28 where he promises that , “all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice & come out.” These marvelous promises will soon take place. I truly hope that these thoughts along with your fond memories will provide a measure of comfort in these difficult times.

    This morning I noticed the obits about Owen. I’m so sorry for this great loss to your family. Look forward to the time when Isaiah chapter 28 verse 8 will realized. There it speaks about a time when the almighty God will swallow up death forever. Also at Job chapter 14 verses 14,15 foretells a time when God will call those who have died back to life. That will happen when Gods Kingdom rules over heaven and earth. I pray that Owen name will be called and the Murnion Family will be there to receive him back. let us all pray for the Kingdom of God to Come!
