Mary Patricia (Pat) Anderson, age 75, of Miles City passed away peacefully at her home on March 7, 2009 with her family by her side.
Pat was born on November 29, 1933 in Miles City, MT, the daughter of Forest Dunning and Beatrice (Tucker) Dunning. She attended grade school at Rosebud and Moon Creek Country School and graduated from Billings Central High School in May 1952. Pat worked for Mountain Bell Phone Company until her marriage to Horace Gunder (Curly) Anderson in October of 1952 in San Diego, California where Curly was stationed in the Navy. They moved to the Cascade, Montana area in 1956 where they farmed and ranched for over 10 years. Pat and her girls moved into Cascade in the late 60s where she operated and managed local restaurants for several years. In the mid 70s she became the Recreation Director for the town of Cascade and was instrumental in opening the Sensation Station Recreation Center to benefit Cascades youth. In 1979, Pat moved to Great Falls where she worked as an interior decorator. In 1994, she retired and moved to Miles City.
Pat loved sewing, working crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble and baking. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, Las Vegas, New York, and Georgia to visit her daughter Dawn. Pat and her granddaughter, Sonya, were especially close, enjoying weekly dinners and movie nights, which they continued throughout her last days. Pats true passion was her family; her love for and dedication to them was unconditional.
Pat is survived by her four daughters: Robin (John) Tooke of Miles City, Melody (Ernie) Berg of Power, Dawn Anderson of Atlanta, and Crystal Renee (Scott) Grady of Great Falls. She is also survived by three brothers: Frank, Dick and Charles, two sisters: Lena and Sister Marie Carmel, six grandchildren: Stephanie and Sonya Marquis, Heidi and Katrina Berg and Amanda and Travis Carr, and four great-grandchildren: Cody Berg, Katy Long, Caitlin and MicKenzie McIntyre.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Forest and Beatrice Dunning, four brothers: George, Leonard, Les and Jim, one sister: Mina Tonkovich, and infant brothers: Glen and Tommy.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin Thursday, March 12, 2009 with Family Receiving Friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Burial will be in the family lot at the Custer County Cemetery. If desired, donations can be made in Pats name to the First United Methodist Church, Holy Rosary Hospice, or a charity of one's choice.
