Interment: will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Circle
Patricia Ruth Pat Loberg, age 83, of Miles City, formerly of Circle, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007 of natural causes at her daughter Vickis home in Miles City.
Pat was born on February 13, 1924 in Glendive, Montana, the youngest of William and Ida Gertisons three daughters. Pat grew up on the family ranch next to the Yellowstone River south of Glendive and often referred to herself as her fathers son. She took part in every aspect of ranch life while remaining very much a lady. She became well-known as a winning jockey at local race tracks. Pat was a talented artist and had a remarkable green thumb. She received her schooling in Glendive schools, graduating from DCHS in 1941. After graduation, Pat was secretary for the Dawson County Superintendent of Schools for seven years.
On August 17, 1947, Pat and Gardner (Red) Loberg were married in Circle at the First Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm west of town where they raised their five children. Pat also worked as head bookkeeper for Dr. Hastetter at the Circle Hospital. When Pat and Red opened Loberg Heating and Cooling she became the bookkeeper for their business, as well as Town Clerk for the town of Circle in later years. She was an active member of the Circle VFW Auxiliary and also a member of the Welca Circle of First Lutheran. Together they enjoyed attending Reds Flying Tiger reunions, many trips and a 35th wedding celebration at the farm. They were married for 39 years until his passing on February 6th, 1986. Pat continued to live on the family farm until her kidnapping a year and a half ago when she was spirited away to live at the Eagle Manor in Miles City. There she enjoyed being closer to her daughter Vicki and her family, but her heart always remained with her Circle friends, the farm and the gumbo hills of her fathers ranch.
Pat is survived by her daughters: Carol (Stan) Hurley of Cortez, CO; Vicki (Ken) Hess of Miles City, MT; and three sons: Craig and Billy of Circle; Brian (Jeanne) Loberg of Glendale, AZ and a daughter-of-the-heart Emmie Loberg and eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Jeanne Brody of Circle and Constance Vogele of Glendive and numerous nieces and nephews.
