Patricia Angela Sakelaris was born December 13, 1941, to Angelo Sakelaris and Lurenne Egeland Sakelaris in Miles City, Montana. She grew up and went to school in Ismay where she made many lasting friends. When the school closed the family moved to Ryegate where she graduated. She tried many jobs but none seemed just right. In about 1974 she moved to Missouri where she began farming with the help of Lila Robinson and her uncles, Don and Joe Egeland. In 1981 Elaine Richmond joined her and they expanded into sheep and goats. Together they learned to plant and harvest but most of all to keep the machinery repaired and running. By 1994 her health was declining, and she decided to move back to Montana to take care of her parents. She tried a couple jobs, but her health would not allow it.
Pat was quite artistic and could carve anything from a piece of wood. She also did leather carving and painting until the last five to six years of her life.
She is survived by her longtime friend Elaine Richmond and cousins Alvin Smith (Sandi) of Parkman, Wyoming, Ed Cumming (Loree) of Columbia Falls, Montana, Jewell Doty (Gary) of Lolo, Montana and Chris Sakelaris (Shirley) of Baker, Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lurenne and Angelo Sakelaris and her sister Linda Reno.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family plot at Custer County Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Pat’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
