Patti Lou Erickson
Ingomar, MT – Patti, 90, of Ingomar, MT passed away Friday, January 2, 2026 in the company of her daughter following the paster’s blessing at the Edgewood Vista care facility in Billings where she resided since 2023.
Patricia Louise Collins was born on February 22, 1935 in Forsyth, MT to Harry P. and Mary E. Collins, joining her sister Mary Jo (Jo) after just moving to Forsyth from Baker. The family became part of the Forsyth community with Harry being an owner of Yellowstone Pharmacy and Forsyth Drug Store until his death in 1951 where Mary and Mary Jo continued running the Drug Store with Patti’s help until 1969. Patti graduated from Forsyth High School in 1953 where her time in the band and dance team led to her love of music and dancing. Upon graduation Patti attended the University of Montana where she received her teaching degree that led her to teaching in Roundup for several years.
When in Roundup Patti renewed her relationship with her longtime sweetheart and fellow Forsyth Dogie, Erik K. Erickson, of Ingomar, On June 23, 1956 they married and resided on the Erickson Land & Livestock ranch near Ingomar where they raised their four children, Mark, Collins, Alan, and Marni. They resided on the ranch with the assistance of several hired hands through the years, particularly Jake and Elsie Rudolph, until moving into Ingomar in 1987 where they resided until Erik’s passing in 2008. Patti remained a resident and regular fixture in Ingomar until 2018 while supporting the community, working several years with the gals at the Jersey Lilly and manning The Shop community store.
Throughout the years Patti was an active member in the northern Rosebud County region as a member of the Elks in Miles City; Rosebud Cowbells; Ingomar Sagehens; election official for nearly 30 years; 4-H leader and supporter; one of the original and continued member of the Ingomar Rodeo Club; and the Ingomar Water Board. Patti will be remembered for her Irish spunk, an avid reader, someone always available to visit with while not afraid to tell folks what was on her mind, particularly during the last decade or two, a loving mother and partner, and also for the care and fulfilling life she and Erik provided their son Collins following his head injury from a horse riding accident when he was 5 until his passing.
Patti was proceeded in death by her parents, Harry and Mary, sister Mary Jo and brother in-law Jim Burt, husband Erik in 2008, and son Collins in 2014. Heartfelt condolences to all of the Erickson families. Getting acquainted with Pattie in later years was enlightening as we visited about ‘old times’. She will be missed, but, ‘just away’ for awhile.

Mark, Alan and Marni – Lynn and I were so sorry to hear about Patti’s passing. She was such a fun, upbeat person, and I always enjoyed visiting with her. She and Erik were two of my favorite people while growing up. They were lifelong friends with my mom and dad, so I’m sure the four of them are having a happy reunion about now.
