Partrick James Short was born on May 25, 1956, along with his twin brother Steward to Jearold and Gloria (Morris) Short in Forsyth, Montana. Steward passed away shortly after their birth. Pat spent his early childhood in Forsyth, and then moved to Cody, Wyoming’ and later to Matlock, Washinton where he graduated from high school.
Pat and his older brother, Mike would spend their summers in Forsyth with their dad and grandparents, Max and Ethel Short. Pat started out “tinkering” with small engines when he was on the farm during the summers in Montana. Pat discovered at a young age he enjoyed having a mechanical gift.
After graduation from high school, Pat returned to Forsyth and starting his mechanic career. For the next 36 years he worked for Heberle Ford, L.M. Larsen Implement; Boggs Chevrolet, Brian Schweitzer Farm; Earl Cozzens Trucking, Hein Auto Repair, and Art’s Tires.
In September of 1987, Pat enlisted in the Army and served as a self-propelled field artillery turret mechanic. He served a year and two months in Germany, being stationed there when the Berlin wall was being removed. After his discharge in 1991, Pat returned to Forsyth to resume his mechanic work.
Pat was preceded in death by his father, Jerold; mother, Gloria; step father, Wells Meyer; infant sister, Patricia; twin brother, Steward; and beloved black lab, “Bean”. He is survived by his older brother, Michael Short of Alvin Texan; aunt, Josephine Falcon; and numerous cousins in Montana, Washington, and Nevada.
Per Pat’s wishes, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be scattered on the ranch where he lived.
