Patrick Talbot of Jordan passed away at Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings, Montana on February 19, 2017 after a short battle with cancer.
Pat was born on July 3, 1950 in Missoula, Montana to Claude (Bud) and Carol (Huston) Talbot. Pat and his family moved back to Jordan after his father’s death. He graduated from Garfield County High School in 1968.
Pat served in the Army from 1970 through 1971. He served nine months in Vietnam until he was injured and sent home. For Pat’s service, he received various medals and commendations.
After his honorable discharge, Pat returned home, working at Pine Hills School for Boys in Miles City, Montana, as a park ranger in Glacier National Park, at Devil’s Tower in Wyoming as a ranger and member of the high angle rescue team, for Neil and Dodie Paxson’s Conoco station, Pioneer Garage, and at the Farmers’ Union in Jordan. Pat also farmed and fed cattle for various farms and ranches in Garfield County through the years. He returned home fulltime to care for his mother and stepfather Tiny (Clarence) Umland when their health began to fail.
He is preceded in death by his father Bud, his mother Carol, his stepfather Tiny, and his brother David. He is survived by his cousins Ross Childers, Glenda Reynolds, Sam Huston, and Peggy Pierson. He is also survived by various step relatives.
Pat was a lifetime member of VFW Post #7886. Pat’s military service was a source of pride for him and he wanted to be remembered as “being born a soldier and remaining a soldier.”
Graveside services will be held on Saturday February 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer Cemetery in Jordan, Montana. After the service, please join us for a toddy to honor Pat’s life at the Ranchers’ Bar.
A special thanks to Mary Pat Watson for the times she looked out for Pat. A special thanks also to the staff at Saint Vincent Hospital for the superb care they took of Pat during his short stay there.
