Paula Grace (Cadwell) Jackson was born to Francis Claire Cadwell and Eleanor Ruth (Dinstel) Cadwell in Belle Fourche, South Dakota on August 28, 1949. Her parents brought her home to a small log cabin in Ridge, MT, formerly the residence of Tommie Jensen. The little family moved into the house Francis built for them in 1952. One of the earliest memories her family shares of Paula is how she would sit on the pile of lumber being used for the new house and happily sing. Paula kept her bright outlook all her life.
Paula was an avid gardener, and loved brightening her home with wildflowers, fresh roses and delphiniums, and irises. She and her children loved their walks looking for the first crocus to bloom on the hills as winter faded into spring, or currents and chokecherries in the fall. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to sew. Over the years, she ministered to others by sewing for them and sharing her craft.
Paula enjoyed tending her large gardens as well. Her children remember days canning with her in the fall, filling up the basement and cellar of Grandpa Cadwell’s house with sweet and savory abundance.
She attended Ridge School through 8th grade, then attended Belle Fourche High School for grades 9-11, and transferred to Broadus for her senior year, graduating in 1967. Paula gave her life to Christ as a young person and lived out her faith daily as she cared for her family.
She attended Swedish School of Nursing in St. Paul, MN and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in June of 1970.
Paula also married James Richard Jackson in June 1970. The couple moved to Oblong, IL, where Paula was employed at Robinson Hospital. From this marriage were born Belinda Ruth (Jackson) Alexander on October 23, 1973; Melissa Ann (Jackson) Rose on March 13, 1976, Steven Eugene Jackson on July 10, 1979; and Annette Sue (Jackson) Hunt on July 30, 1983. In 1977, the family moved back to the Cadwell ranch in Ridge, MT, where she lived until October of 2019. Her son, Steven, and his wife and children lovingly cared for her at their home in Wyoming until her passing.
Paula passed into eternal glory on Tuesday November 26, 2024 at approximately 11 PM due to complications with a bowel obstruction at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming surrounded by her family and loved ones. Paula was 75 years old.
She is survived by her children Belinda (Chris) Alexander, Melissa (Dan) Rose, Steven (Lucy) Jackson, Annette Hunt; her brother, Eugene Cadwell, and her sister Rebecca (Cadwell) Bingaman and their children, David Cadwell, Bethany (Cadwell) Hunt, Olivia (Bingaman) Gorans, Chad Bingaman, Tracy (Bingaman) Herren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor (Dinstel) Cadwell, her father, Francis Cadwell, and her brother Steven Cadwell, her grandson Ambrose Wiford, her son-in-law Stephen Wiford, and her late husband James Richard Jackson.
Paula had a deep love for her family, and cherished her grandchildren: Thane Wiford, Latosha Wiford, Katie Wiford, Kyndra Wiford, Layne Homner, Vern Homner, Kyle Homner, Rachel Jackson, Jenny Jackson, Tyrell Jackson, Cassia Jackson, Clarissa Jackson, Ryan Hunt, Aaron Hunt, Brandon Hunt, and Logan Hunt.

Certainly, the Earth has been honored by the life of the lovely lady Paula. Words will not encapsulate the tribute of dignity that should be brought to her noble life.
My Wife, MaryEllen, and I had the privilege of Pastoring her family from 1970 into 1972, after she had left home. And during that time we had the honor of having her as a guest in our Parsonage home for a Thanksgiving dinner.
Years of Ridge Camps, getting more acquainted with the gracious, dignified Paula lets us know how honored we were to have her at our table. She had so much both of the quiet strength and dignity of her Father, Francis, and of the determined strength and purpose of her Mother, Eleanor. Her Grandparents would have been so blessed by the life that she filled her journey with.
The only one of her children that I have had the blessing of getting acquainted with is her son, Steven. He is a great tribute to her character from the descending side of life. In between ancestry and descendants, who could match Paula Cadwell Jackson?

Childhood and teen memories of riding horses together, and times of prayer together at Cadwell Springs Camp are precious.
