Pauline Schlepp Hofer Riggs, age 90, of Miles City passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Pauline was born on November 13, 1918 in Elgin, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Finkbeiner) Leitholt. She moved to Montana in 1923 where Pauline attended country school at Crow Rock. Following school, she helped her parents on the family ranch until her marriage to Jake Schlepp on August 22, 1936 in Jordan. To this union, three children were born, Florence, Gerald and Diana. They lived at Purewater, MT, 38 miles east of Jordan where they farmed and ranched until 1972 when they sold the farm and moved to Miles City where they retired. Jake passed away on July 18, 1983. On September 22, 1989 Pauline and Emil Hofer where married. Emil passed away in May of 1990. Pauline later married Leonard Riggs on April 10, 1992. Together they had 15 wonderful years. Leonard passed away on July 3, 2007. Pauline was a faithful member of the First Lutheran Church and active in the Drop-in Center. She enjoyed dancing, quilting, gardening and most of all spending time with her family.
Pauline is survived by a son, Gerald (Bobbi) Schlepp of Miles City, MT; two daughters: Florence Lodwig of Miles City, MT; and Diana Davis of Miles City, MT; two step-sons: Gary (Kiko) Riggs of Kent, WA and Vic (Beth) Riggs of Miles City,MT; a step-daughter, Gaye (JD) Vezey of Billings, MT; a sister, Elsie Zawada of Missoula, MT; twelve grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, thirteen step-great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her three husband, four brothers, two sisters, a son-in-law and a great granddaughter.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Miles City.
