On the afternoon of Thursday April 25, 2019 Pearl Hirsch passed away at St. Vincent Health Care in Billings, MT as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. Pearl was 76 years old.
Pearly (Pearl) Ann Milender was born in Miles City on January 26, 1943. She was one of six children born to Pearl and James Milender.
Pearl was a typical kid and enjoyed life in Miles City growing up on the north side of town. Her grandmother Armstrong was her role model and she looked up to her grandmother more than anyone. She was lucky enough to gain another sister when her brother Bill married Violet. Violet and Pearl never once considered themselves anything less than sisters. Violet was there through most of her teenage years and was her helping hand and shoulder to cry on until she met the love of her life.
Pearl met the love of her life, LeRoy Hirsch at a very young age. It was love at first sight and she and LeRoy did everything together and became the couple which others wished to be.
Pearl and LeRoy were married on September 17, 1960 and she became a Hirsch. She was so proud of her husband and married name that she told everyone that even though she wasn’t born a Hirsch, she was more Hirsch than most. Her in-laws, Ellen and Emil Hirsch took her under their wing and taught her how to be a strong woman, farmer’s wife and mother to her 3 boys.
Pearl and LeRoy had trouble starting their family but by the grace of God she had twins, Shane Jay and Shawn Lee on a cold day in February 1966. She wanted nothing more than to be a great mother and do the best by her boys. Five years later God blessed them with another little boy, Chad Allen, in August of 1971. She was instrumental in the Rock Springs Country School where Shane, Shawn and Chad attended elementary school. In 1980, they moved to town so the boys could finish their schooling. She loved her family more than anything and raised her children on the family ranch.
Pearl was a family oriented person, her husband, boys and grandchildren where the light of her life. She enjoyed taking trips with them and always supported them in any and all of the activities they were involved in. She always had the coffee on for anyone that stopped by and was always feeding the grandchildren especially as they got older. She adopted all of the friends the boys brought home and treated them as one of the family. She had as many friends as she did family and any friend quickly became family.
Throughout her life Pearl enjoyed traveling with LeRoy across the country. After the boys grew up, she and LeRoy would take an annual trip to California to see family and friends. She also took various grandchildren on vacation with them throughout the years. She and LeRoy were not big on air travel but loved to go on road trips. She always came back with lots of pictures and tales of getting lost and stories about the people that they met on their travels.
Pearl also enjoyed her pets, she had bunnies for all her grandchildren out at the ranch and generations of Keeshonds until LeRoy adopted a pug. Upon Pearl’s passing she had a small black pug names Precious who now resides with Shane and Gretchen.
Pearl’s faith was absolute; she always had a strong relationship with God. Her faith became stronger after her husband passed away in 2016 knowing that someday they would be together again. She was a proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was part of the Miles City church her whole life.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Hirsch, sisters Jacky Milender and Betty Milender, her father James Milender, and her mother Pearl Browning.
Pearl is survived by her brothers Bill (Violet) Milender, Richard Milender, Gary Milender, her children Shane (Gretchen) Hirsch, Shawn (Lora) Hirsch, Chad Hirsch, her grandchildren Amber (Alex) Helland, Brittany Hirsch, Taeler Hirsch, Brody Hirsch, Austin Hirsch, Riley Hirsch, Dylan Hirsch, McKenzie Hirsch, and her great-grandchildren Nathan Helland and Ellie Helland.

My heart is heavy with the news of Pearls passing. She was such a wonderful lady. She always thought of others before herself. Her family was #1 in her life. After Leroy passed I asked her why she wanted to stay at the ranch and she told me that was where she belonged. So many memories of working with her at the old HRH, and the wonderful Baklava she made. My sympathy to her family. Fly high lady.

I am so sorry for your family’s loss. We are all affected by death, no matter what our age is. The Bible tells us that Jehovah God sees our pain and suffering. And soon he will put an end to death for good. He even promises a resurrection of our loved ones. (John 5:28,29). I hope this brings you some comfort during this time of grief.

To the Family, so sorry for your loss. Hope you will be comforted in knowing that Pearl has the prospect of being resurrected, healthy (in the flesh), to Paradise Earth just as Jehovah God has promised. In fact , the vast majority will enjoy everlasting life right here on earth as God had intended from the beginning. God’s Kingdom will do this under the rule of Jesus Christ.
