In Memory Of

Penny Monier, age 72, of Miles City.

December 12, 1947 – March 31, 2020

Watch the Funeral Service LIVE on the S&S Facebook page at 11AM this Thursday, April 2, 2020.A video of the funeral service will be posted here a few days later.

Once upon a time a little baby girl was born in Saline, Michigan, on December 12, 1947.  Her Mommy told her there was a bad storm that night and the doctor almost didn’t make it in time.  They named the little girl Penelope Camille (Penny). Her mother was Fay and her dad was Willard.

Penny was welcomed into the family that consisted of one big sister, Wilma, who was 10 and a big brother, Bill, who was 7. It was great fun to be the baby and she was spoiled rotten.

Penny’s family lived in the country, in Ypsilanti, Michigan for many years.  Little Penny had many memories of growing up. It was a simple time, an innocent age.  She loved to ice skate behind her house in the wintertime.  She attended Lincoln High School and had many friends for those years.  In her senior year she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Ken Monier.  They were married on October 15, 1966.

In 1967 she became the mother of Marc Troy, it seems she had waited for him all of her life.  She loved her baby boy and being a stay at home mom and housewife.

Michigan was becoming too busy and crowded. Ken and Penny longed for the wide-open spaces of the west, so in 1976 they moved to Big Fork, Montana. There they built a beautiful home in the mountains, where they lived for four years.

In 1980 they moved to Miles City to make a career in the motel business.  They loved Miles City right away and felt right at home.  But, in 1984 they were summoned to Sidney, Montana to work there for four years.  In 1987 they had the good fortune to return to Miles City, where they finally called “Home” for the rest of their lives.  They bought the old Jack Hoffman dairy farm and it became their haven.

Ken and Penny were in the motel business for 30 years.  In 1994 her son married Tracy Bruce and in 1995 they blessed Penny with a grandson, Luc James. Then three years later a granddaughter, Emily Dawn.  They reside in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. Being a grandmother was one of her favorite things in life.

The bible says that Jesus told us, His Father went before Him to make many rooms in His mansion for us to live with Him when we got to heaven.

Family members that Penny will miss greatly, but will keep in her heart forever are: Laurie Parks & family, Chris Wood & family, Blake Wood & family, Cindy Monier & family, Darcy Monier & family, Aaron Monier & family, Marion Ricker & family, Leslie Iversen & family, and the very special love of her life, Lucy.

Penny sincerely hopes and prays that she will see all her friends and family again someday soon.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. We ask that friends abide by the social distancing requirements upon arrival.
