Perry Fighting Bear, Ve’kėseoxhaestȯxese, “Many Birds”, age 64 died peacefully in his home surrounded by his children: Heather Clubfoote, Laquinta (Earl), Tia, Teto (Kimmy) and his wife, Ella on Tipi Ranch near Ashland, Montana. He was a member of the Kitfox Society.
In his early years he built fences, remodeled homes, and did fire fighting for BIA Forestry for several years. A man of many trades, he worked for Northern Cheyenne Pine Company then in heavy machinery for Riverside Road Construction. Perry committed his 20 years to Heritage Living Center of tireless service to his beloved elders and retired in 2021.
His hobbies included reading, fixing classic cars, and spending his free time with his grandchildren. He loved long drives, spending time on the long country backroads. He enjoyed following the classic car shows and loved his old westerns on TV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer (Mabel) Sooktis-Fighting Bear; daughter, Carmen; granddaughter, Elizabeth; sisters: Vita, Nancy, Effie (Paul), Viola (Ike), and his brother, Clifton.
He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends, loved ones, and grandchildren. His family includes Fighting Bears, Sooktis, Littlemouth, Medicine Top, Sandcrane, Biglefthand, Bearchum, Bearquiver, Bellymule. He comes from a large extended family, we sincerely apologize if we have forgotten anyone.
