Funeral Mass: Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 11:00am at the Allen Rowland Gymnasium in Lame Deer.
Burial: Spang Family Cemetery with Full Military Rites.
Hereditary Cheyenne Chief, He`ova`evo`o (Yellow Horse with Yellow mane) was called home by ma`heo`o at the age of 75 on November 13, 2008 surrounded by family and friends at the Billings Clinic.
Perry was born in Canton, OK on November 1, 1933 to Chief Hailman Littlecoyote and Martha BearsHead.He served in the U. S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge in 1957 he moved to the Northern Cheyenne Reservation, where he met and married Emma Big Left Hand and from this union they had two sons and one daughter. They later divorced and he married Jennie Marie Spang.Throughout his lifetime, he always had a love for horses. This love is what connected him to the circle of horse racing. He owned and trained several top race horses. He also participated in and enjoyed rodeos. He loved to sing and dance at pow-wows. In his younger days he was a champion Fancy Dancer, and later a Traditional Dancer. In 2006, he retired from the Lame Deer Public School as a bus driver. He loved being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. While spending time with them, he shared his knowledge of the Cheyenne Traditional ways and telling them his life stories.
Perry was a Cheyenne Arrow Priest, and a member of the Cheyenne Chiefs Society. He is an irreplaceable master of Traditional Cheyenne Tribal Songs.
Survived by his wife of 29 years, Jennie Marie. Sons: Allen (Elizabeth) Littlecoyote, and Monte Littlecoyote Sr. of Lame Deer. Daughter: Judy (Littlecoyote) Tall Bull of Mesa AZ. Step daughters: Rosella Tweety Wilson of Billings, Dr. Sandra Dixie Wilson of Lame Deer, Janice (Jay) Doney of Fort Belknap, and Pammy Wilson of Anaconda. Step sons: James (Pammy) Wilson of Muddy Creek and Dr. Tim (Dianne) Wilson of Eugene OR. Sisters: Karen and Rachel of Oklahoma. Adopted brother: John Holds of Crow Agency. Adopted sons: Ernest Nance and Kenny Kaline. 30 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws to numerous to mention. Two special friends: Don His Many Bad Horses of Busby, and Jim Riley of Dunmore.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers: James Francis and Mervin Littlecoyote two sisters: Wilma and Frances Littlecoyote, and nephew Mervin Littlecoyote.
We would like to thank all the medical and dialysis staff at the Billings Clinic who extended their kindness and services. Also the Board of Health Medical Transportation and escorts.
