Peter J. LeVay, age 94, of Poplar, MT followed the golden light of our Lord into Heaven on February 19, 2007 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point. There he joined his beloved wife, Sissy, and others, in eternal peace.
Pete was born on August 7, 1912 to Louis and Mary (Bauer) LeVay on a farm near Culbertson. As a young boy he attended Chemawa Indian School where he still holds a record in shot put. His love for music led him to be an outstanding musician who played with the symphony orchestra in Washington. Later years found Pete enjoying playing his guitar in the evenings. He was a welder, working in the shipyards in Washington and an auto body mechanic at Moe Chevy in Poplar. A fisherman he was and a champion horseshoe player winning many trophies, a hard worker, serving his country in the National Guard during war time. He was a quiet man who had a good sense of humor.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sissy, one son, Butch, two brothers and three sisters.He is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Gerald) Johnson and Mavis (Wayne) Failing and family both of Poplar; a son, Donald LeVay of Poplar; four grandchildren, Tracy LeVay of Williston, ND, Chuck (Kim) Johnson of Poplar, Jeri Ann (Chad) Smith of Lawrence, KS and Ira (Carla) Ricker of Wolf Point; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, all whom he dearly loved.
