Philip Dale Brown, age 84, of Terry passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at his home in Terry.
Philip was born May 5, 1930 at Springfield, Missouri to Arthur L. and Pauline A. (Sheldon) Brown. Within a couple years, the family moved to the Brown homestead where Dale, as he was known, to his family and friends spent most of his life. He attended 2nd grade in Mildred and the other seven grades either at Coal Creek or Whitney Creek schools about 4 miles from home. He attended and graduated from Terry High School in 1948. After graduation he went to work for his dad on the Brown Ranch. Dale married Joan E. Trask in 1949 and they moved to the Brown Ranch where they lived until they semi-retired and moved to Terry in 1998.
Dale served on several committees and boards in Prairie County. The old FHA Board in Glendive from Prairie County, the A.S.C. County Committee for two terms, the Prairie County Grazing Board for five years and the Prairie County Fair Board for eight years. He was a member of the Terry Roping Club for many years.
Dale is survived by his wife Joan Brown of Terry, MT; two children, a son, Michael Ray and his wife Diana Lynn Howell of Polson, MT; a daughter, Shawnee Rae and her husband Roger David Fowler who now runs the Brown Ranch. He has four grandchildren Trilby Ann (Leif) Cox, Branden Michael (Tiffany) Brown, Jeremy Allen Fowler and Jenny Lee Fowler; and three great grandchildren Peyton and Jurgen Cox, and Adelle Morales.
Family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Stevenson and Sons from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry. Interment will be held at a later date in the Prairie County Cemetery.
