Phyllis Renee Johnson, age 88, of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City.
Phyllis was born on November 13, 1924 in Glasgow, Montana, the daughter of Ernest E. and Alma (Wittmayer) Johnson. Living on the Missouri Breaks and coming to Miles City at the age of 7 and settled on Yellowstone Valley. She attended grade school at Tussler and high school in Miles City. On September 26, 1944, she married Keith Johnson in Miles City, Montana. They ranched in Kinsey from 1950 to 1995, and during the later years Phyllis drove to Miles City every day to work at Sears.
Phyllis loved to plant a large garden of both vegetables and flowers. She was a wonderful cook and loved feeding her family, especially her grandson Jason. She also enjoyed sewing and making cross stitch pictures and framed many of them. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ladies VFW Auxiliary, and the Elks Drove of Does.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Keith Johnson of Miles City, MT; a daughter, Renee (Chuck) Strand of Miles City, MT; a grandson, Jason (Mandy) Schieffert of Miles City, MT; three great grandchildren: Cassidy, Morgan and Owen all of Miles City, MT; and a brother Herb (Brenda) Johnson of Billings, MT.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veteran’s Cemetery.
