In Memory Of

Pollyanna Hirsch

December 28, 1963 – September 23, 2011

Pollyanna Hirsch, age 47, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 23, 2011 at her home in Miles City.

Pollyanna was born in Miles City, Montana on December 28, 1963, the daughter of Jay Dee and Sandy Hirsch. She was raised on the family farm at Rock Springs, Montana until the age of 7, at which time she moved to Miles City after her parents divorced. Pollyanna attended local schools until her junior year when she then moved to attend schools in Helena. Pollyanna lived in various states including Arizona and California, occasionally she would return to Miles City where she eventually remained until the time of her death. For a number of years she was employed by Buttery Foods, Miles City Pack and various motels.

Pollyanna was a very giving person. Whatever possessions she had, she would greatly pass on to anyone who asked. She had a natural beautiful voice, which she inherited from her grandma Hirsch, along with a knack of playing the piano by ear which she inherited from her other grandma Elhard. She was known to leave song messages on many a answer phone's, "Lean on Me" was one of her favorite one's and sometimes her very own music. Everyone enjoyed receiving flowering letters from Polly. She would express herself very precisely and fluently in her writing and her beautiful handwriting was always admired.

Pollyanna is survived by her parents Sandy (Rodney) Lee and Jay Dee Hirsch all of Miles City, MT; her siblings: Joy Johnston, Dusty Rose Hirsch, Misty Hirsch, Cotton Lee, Lisa Slover, Jodie Miller and Larry Lee; other survivors include her beloved Aunt Lindy Bighorn, Aunt Connie Strub, Uncle Ernie Bighorn, and Uncle Jim Jim. She had some very favorite cousins including Ernie Bighorn Jr., Channon Bighorn, Lisa Pless, Daniel Bighorn, India Hathaway and Angel Kountz. As a very special survivor, we cannot forget Polly´s very longtime friend and confidant Richard Wheatcroft.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church in Miles City. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

My sincere condolences to her family and friends. What I will remember most about her was her sense of humor, how fun she could be and her generosity. I hope she is now at peace…..

    “If I should go tomorrow
    It would never be goodbye,
For I have left my heart with you,
    So don’t you ever cry.
The love that’s deep within me,
Shall reach you from the stars,
You’ll feel it from the heavens,
And it will heal the scars.”
I believe this is what Pollyanna would say to us all to ease our pain. Let Go and let God. Eileen

I knew Polly for quite awhile and I only wish she could have kicked the drug habit. It also seems like thru the years she sometimes surrounded herself by people that weren’t there to support her in sobriety but to condone it. She was funny, and had a wonderful smile. I pray in heaven her body and mind are at peace. Addiction has taken so many lives…it is a horrible disease. May you rest in peace polly.
