Rachel Elaine Wahl, age 82, of Helena, formerly of Terry, MT passed away on Monday, April 5, 2004 at the Big Sky Care Center in Helena, Montana.

Rachel was born on June 5, 1921 to Sam and Christina (Elhard) Elhard in Watkins, MT. She was raised in Watkins where she attended grade school and middle school. Rachel went to high school in Brockway and Terry. On October 15, 1938 she and Arthur Wahl were married at Crow Rock. They farmed for a few years before moving to Terry, MT where Arthur began working for Falkenstern Implement and Rachel worked as a waitress at Larrys Cafe before working at the Terry school helping in the kitchen as a cook. She retired after working there for 20 years. Arthur and Rachel remained in Terry until 1997, when they moved to Sidney. In 1999, Rachel moved to Helena and to Nampa, ID to be closer to family.

Rachel enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and taking care of her yard. She especially loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren.

Rachel is survived by two sons; Harold and his wife Carol Wahl of Billings, MT, Eldon and his wife Maxine Wahl of Hysham, MT, two daughters; Sharon and her husband Don Eiske of Helena, MT and Vivian and her husband Jerald Fredrick of Nampa, ID, seven grandsons and one granddaughter and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur in 2001, a son; Duane Wahl in 1962, and four sisters; Rose Bickel, Ann Hirsch, Martha Hirsch and Edna Naasz.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2004 at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Terry. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fallon. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry.
