Graveside services for Rahna Schwindt, age 66, of Gillette, Wyoming will be 12:30 PM, Friday, April 30, 2004 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 PMThursday, April 29, 2004 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette. A private family visitation will be held from 7-9:00 PM Thursday, April 29, 2004.
Rahna died Monday, April 26, 2004 at her home in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.
Rahna Mae Schwindt was born September 23, 1937 the daughter of Rahn and Martha (Morgan) in Glendive, Montana. Rahna went to elementary school in Glendive, Montana, then moved to Dickinson, North Dakota, where she graduated high school in 1955. Upon her graduation, she went to Bozeman, Montana to begin her schooling. Then went to Butte, Montana for her nurses training. While in Butte, Montana, she married her sweet heart on January 11, 1957. After completing her RN, the couple moved to Anaconda, Montana, where she worked at St. Annes Hospital in all aspects of nursing. In 1965, the couple moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, where she then worked in Loveland, Colorado, where she was instrumental in setting up the hospitals ICU and ER floors. In 1976, she moved with her family to Gillette, Wyoming. Here, she worked at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital until 1988, when she retired due to medical reasons.Rahna had a passion for nursing. She loved being a caretaker, which can be attested by all her family whom she loved dearly. She also cared for the animals on their ranch. She enjoyed horse packing and camping in the mountains, along with snowmobiling.
Rahna is survived by her parents; her husband; one son, Dennis (Dawn) Schwindt of Gillette, Wyoming; one sister, Rose McLaughlin (Chuck) of Golden, Colorado; her mother-in-law, Victoria Zeller of Dickinson, North Dakota; two brother-in-laws: Ron (Jenny) Zeller of Dickinson, North Dakota; Rich Warner of Bismarck, North Dakota; her granddaughter: Reagan Keister and great grandson, Lukas LePage, both of Sheridan, Wyoming; one step grandson; and one step granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah in 1976; her sister, Linda in 1998; and her brothers: Bill as a teenager; and Monty in 2000.
