Ralph Andy Fillafer, age 88, of Miles City passed away on February 12, 2015 at his home in Miles City.
Ralph was born on November 29, 1926 in Miles City, MT; the son of Andy and Mary (Andrich) Fillafer. He attended grade school in Miles City and graduated from Custer County District High School. Ralph went on to Bozeman and received his associates in auto mechanics. After college, he came back to the family ranch to help out his father. Later on he was employed with a land company to survey wheat fields. On June 26, 1954 he married Margaret Morgan. Eventually he took over the family ranch north of town and continued to farm and ranch until he moved to town due to health reason in 2012. Ralph loved to hunt for artifacts and collect arrowheads. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, reading, working at his ranch, animals and loved working on vehicles. He enjoyed hunting visits with his friends Albert Bender and Chuck Drury and loved it when his brothers and their families would come to Miles City as well.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Margaret. He is survived by his son Curtis (June) Fillafer of Miles City; his daughter Nancy Fillafer of Miles City; his brothers: Harry (Phyllis) Fillafer of Moorhead, MN and Andy (Beverly) Fillafer of Kennewick, WA; his nieces and nephews: Richard (Carol) Fillafer, Sherry Fillafer, Glen (Susan) Fillafer, Pam Fillafer and Becky Fillafer. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Michael and Jason.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of committal will follow in the Custer County Cemetery.
