The Lord has come after our mother and sister and grandmother on this day to end her pain and suffering after a long illness from natural causes. She was 71 years old and lived a good life raising grandchildren and taking people as sons and daughters and Brothers and Sisters. She loved life and country music. Raquel Menz passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Poplar Community Hospital with her family by her side. She was born November 15, 1935 in Poplar, Montana to Jennie Lester Davis & Gabriel Young.

She raised and adopted other children too many to mention.

Raquel is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Hapa and Yvette Todd of Poplar, two brothers Gabriel (Thelma) Young of Poplar and a half brother, Eugene Pepper (Phylis) Young of Ft. Totten, ND. She raised these grandchildren: Michael Olson, Melanie Menz, Crystal Young Man, Kristina Alexander & Tracey White. Her favorite grandson was John Menz of Sandstone, MN. Her great grand-daughter made her a great-great-grandmother and five generations, Alisha Carpentier & Jason Brown Sr. & Jr. She adopted two brothers of Ft. Quappelle, Canada, Clifford Hindu Thompson & George Yuzicappi.

She took these people as her own family: two adopted sons, Alvin and Sam Savior, four adopted daughters, Maureen Gray Hawk, Marie Yellow Owl, Mavis Hernandez and Verlynn Longee, and four adopted sisters, Hazel Longee, Lorraine Stormy, Verbena Savior and JoAnn White Eagle.

Raquel is preceded in death by both parents, Jennie Lester Davis & Gabriel Young, three brothers Lester Gene Davis, Sherwin Davis and Everon Davis, Sr. and two children, Mary Jane & Myron Olson and her husband, John Allen Menz.
