He worked up to a 1st class seaman, which equals an E3 now.

He was also a member of the Sportsman Club and served a three-year term as a trustee at Grace Lutheran Church in Fallon, MT. Ray enjoyed reading, fishing, camping, driving his grandkids around on his 3-wheeler, playing the guitar and accordion and recording music for his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline who is 95, four daughters Deb (Tom) Frey of Broomfield, CO; Elaine O’Dell (Kevin Sarco) of Hanford, CA; Linda Huffman (Mark) of Hanford, CA; Cindy Hilzendeger (Mark) of Billings, MT and one son, Mark Humann (Tina) of Hopkins, SC; one stepson, Gary Morris (Barbara) of Fayetteville, AR and one stepdaughter, Penny Jones (Jack) of Erwin, TN, 14 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; one sister, Mildred Lucas of Ivanhoe, CA and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Goldie; two sisters, eight brothers and one step- grandson.

He was a beloved husband, father, poppa and friend to anyone who had the honor to meet him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 S. Center Avenue, in Miles City, MT with Pastor Schreibeis officiating.

    Deb, Elaine, Cindy, and Mark,
Beth and I were saddened to hear of the death of your father but rejoice that he fought the good fight and is now with his Savior in heaven. This Lenten and Easter season reminds us that death is really the beginning of life, eternal life with our Savior who lived a perfect life for us, died for us and rose again so that we too may live. May God’s promises of a reunion in heaven comfort you as your mourn your father’s death.

Add your thoughts and memories. Upon approval they will be added.
