Raymond L. Nolan

Funeral Service: Monday, June 14, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City

Interment: Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Miles City with full military honors

Raymond L. Nolan, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 09, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.

Raymond was born in Hebron, North Dakota on January 8, 1925. He moved to Billings and then to Laurel. Ed and Mary Nolan were his parents. He grew up in Laurel, Montana and then did farm work for various farmers and ranchers. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He served in World War II and was very proud to serve in the armed forces. In 1948, he moved to Miles City and met and married the love of his life, Jean L. Viall Nolan. They were married May 7th, 1949 and later that year they had a daughter, Vicki R. Nolan Wuest. The family moved to Rosebud in 1952, then across the river where he worked as a farm rancher until he retired in 1991 and moved back to Miles City.

Raymond loved fishing, hunting, gardening, playing pool and sports of all kinds. The night before he died, he watched the Lakers win in overtime. He also was quite a card shark. Despite years of poor health, Ray was always cheerful and a good sense of humor. He loved family gatherings and liked his family close to him. He spent many hours with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ray was a member of the VFW, American Legion, disabled American Veterans, American Rifle Association and Range Riders.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Ed Nolan and numerous brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Jean Nolan of Miles City, MT; a daughter, Vicki R. Wuest of Miles City, MT; two granddaughters: Rayetta Schmidt and her husband Brandon of Miles City, MT; and Lashanda Wright of Miles City, MT; and three great grandchildren: Damon, Koby and Mikija Wright. He is also survived by a sister, Alva Whitaker of Miles City, MT; and a nephew, Bruce Bannister of Miles City, MT; a nephew, Joe Baker of Colstrip, MT; and Bob Baker and Carol Remme of Billings.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2004 in the chapel in Miles City. A Prayer service will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 14, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Miles City with full military honors. Condolences may be sent to the family by visitingwww.stevensonandsons.com.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, Holy Rosary Health Center, or to the charity of one's choice.
