Raymond Ford Hunt passed away peacefully, September 5, 2020, at the age 85. Ray was born and raised in Miles City, MT. He was born, the youngest of 5 children, to Norman Squire and Ruth Genevieve (Horton) Hunt on September 22, 1934.
Ray was a lifeguard at Miles City’s Natural Oasis, before being drafted into the Army. He was honorably discharged on January 26, 1958. Shortly afterwards, he met the love of his life Betty Lou Boeckel. They were married on Sept. 25, 1960. To this union 3 daughters were born.
Ray was a contractor by trade, building many homes and commercial buildings in south eastern Montana. He learned the trade from the Brodston brothers. He was a partner in Rightway Builders and a three-way partner in the Crafted Homes Corporation. While a partner in Crafted Homes, they built 57 homes in 2 years. He settled into a partnership with Emanuel Hasapis, called H&H Construction. They were often called Mutt and Jeff. This business lasted 28 years before they retired.
Ray loved his family and was deeply loved by them in return. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, shooting, playing pool, waterskiing, snowmobiling, and even traveling to Europe one summer. He was a humorous jokester and a happy person. Being large in stature Ray was often called a gentle giant.
He is survived by his wife Betty Hunt, daughter Mona Hunt, daughter Barb (Ken) Cromar, daughter Karen (Dean) Wang, 11 grandkids, 7 great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, sister Norma (Charlie) Handl, brother Sterling (Suzanne) Hunt, brother Earl (Millie) Hunt, and brother Sherman Hunt.

Ray has always had a special place in my heart because he was so kind and genuine. Sincere condolences Karen and family! We loved Brother Hunt and all our interactions with him. Our kids loved helping him with yard work and taking the Sacrament to him when he didn’t make it to church. We wish we could be there to celebrate his life. Hugs to you all and our lives are richer for knowing your dad and your family.

I just learned of Ray’s death. My deepest sympathies to all of you. Ray was a very special man and I adored him. He was the only partner my Dad had that I liked.
