Raymond “Ray” B. Strasheim was born on May 22, 1947, in Sidney, MT to Benjamin and Alice (Rau) Strasheim. He grew up on the family farm near Sidney. In 1958, the family moved to Terry, MT, where they farmed just south of town. In 1965, Ray graduated from Terry High School, and when his father passed away later that year, Ray took over management of the family farm and caring for his family.
Ray was united in marriage to Linda Cashatt in 1969. They have two children, Kerri and Lynn. Ray would continue to farm until he semi-retired in 2009. Ray was also very involved in the local irrigation project, Buffalo Rapids, since 1972, serving on the Board and later as Manager until he retired in 2015.
Ray will always be known as being a very knowledgeable and successful farmer. Even after “retiring”, he continued to take pride in growing sweet corn that was enjoyed by many near and far. He also enjoyed tinkering on a variety of projects, usually something for a family member or friend. He was always willing to help family and friends and was called friend by many. Some things Ray enjoyed in his early years were bowling, tractor pulls, throwing darts, and later, having a cup of coffee with friends, fantasy football, and yearly fishing trips to Fort Peck.
Ray passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Prairie Community Hospital after losing a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin. Ray is survived by: his wife, Linda, and daughters, Kerri (Tim) of Bozeman, MT and Lynn (Jimmy) of Terry, MT; his mother, Alice Strasheim of Miles City, MT; sister Audrey (Emil) Erhardt of Billings, MT; brother Mike (Sherry) Strasheim of Terry, MT; two grandchildren, Landen and Sienna Schilling of Terry, MT; one step-grandchild, Hailey Schilling of Washougal, WA; and nieces and nephews.

Sorry to hear of your loss. We were involved in the sugar beet business and bought a truck Old Smokey from him. We usually were at the end of season awards dinners in Sydney and many times shared being in the top 10 growers many times. It was always to have him as a
good friend that was in the same business.
Your all in our thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace. Linda and Richard
