Rene Sorenson

A Celebration of Rene's Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Colstrip High School Auditorium. A reception will follow at the Moose Lodge in Colstrip.

Rene Murnie Sorensen, age 49 of Colstrip passed away at her home on Monday, August 17, 2009.

Rene was born on March 6, 1960 the daughter of Stan and Carol (White) Baney in Glasgow, MT. She attended grade school and high school in Glasgow. Rene graduated from high school in Sidney, MT. She was united in marriage to Jeffrey Sorensen on July 15, 1978 in Nashua, MT. Together, they lived in Sidney until 1989. They moved to Helena, MT in 1990 and lived there for one year. Following, they moved to Colstrip where they have resided together until the time of her death. Rene owned and operated the Craft Cupboard and later the Midtown Theatre in Colstrip. She was very dedicated to her community and most of all her family. She was a great artist and enjoyed cooking.

Rene was preceded in death by her father Stan and her sister Carmen Marie.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jeffrey Sorensen of Colstrip, MT; her three sons, Shawn, Sheldon and Sonny all of Colstrip, MT; her mother Carol Baney of Colstrip, MT; and her brother Phillip (Debbie) Baney of Sidney, MT. She is also survived by many aunts, nieces, several uncles, a nephew, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
