Richard Dick Murphy

Funeral Services: Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Circle

Interment: Riverview Cemetery

On November 4, 2007, Richard Dick Murphy, age 85, of Circle, Montana passed away at the McCone County Nursing Home after suffering a stroke.

Dick was born December 19, 1921 on the family farm on McCune Creek to William Billie and Jeannie Mathews Murphy. He attended school at Hell Creek School and Circle High School.

Dick was inducted into the Army in the 1st Calvary Division Special Artillery in the Philippines front and served his country from 1942 1945.

On November 4, 1947 Dick married Lucille Lucy Rooney in Glendive, Montana and to this union four children were born.

After serving in the Army he worked carpentry construction from Minnesota to Washington. In 1956 he moved his family back to the farm on McCune Creek where he farmed and ranched until his death.

In their later years, Dick and Lucy enjoyed dancing, square dancing, fishing at Murphys point at Fort Peck and traveling in the motor home. Six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren were Dicks pride and joy.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pat and Bill; sister Mary; daughter Jeannie, and the love of his life, Lucy. Dick is survived by his children: Gerry (Arne) Lobdell of Richey, Montana; Bim (Helen) Murphy and Jackie (Harley) Becker, both of Circle; grandchildren: Troy (Billie Jo) Lobdell, Kylie and Tori of Decatur, Texas; Cody (Michelle) Lobdell, Matt and Dusty Mavity and Gage Lobdell of Glendive; Rory (Liz) Becker of Laramie, Wyoming; Bryan (Denni) Becker, Tyler, Ashley, Cole and Bryce, and Josh (Amanda) Murphy, James and Nicole, all of Circle; and Mandy Murphy and fianc, Paul St. Aubyn, of St. Cloud, Minnesota.
