Richard Dale Dick Hobbs, age 65, of Miles City passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care after a brave battle with cancer.
Dick was born in Kingston, Missouri on September 1, 1943, the son of Paul and Freda Pearl (Miller) Hobbs. He grew up in Denver, Colorado then moved to Miles City and went to Custer County High School his sophomore and junior years. After high school, he joined the Marine Corps, serving five years before being honorably discharged. Dick was proud of his military service for our country. Dick married Susan I. Fairbanks on December 15, 1967 in Miles City, MT. After his military duties Dick worked for several years at Kostys Warehouse and Osco Drug. Afterwards Dick began working as a correctional officer at Pine Hills School where he retired after twenty years.
Dick was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, reloading and going out shooting. He also enjoyed woodworking and long drives with his wife, especially his latest trip to Tennessee and Missouri to visit friends and family. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Hobbs of Miles City, MT; son Michael and fianc Megan Murnin; sister Bonnie (Russel) Johnson; cousins Verna (Ron) Sluder, Carol (Lynn) Kirkpatrick.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Pearl Hobbs, his step-mother Katherine Hobbs, a son, David Hobbs, mother and father-in-law, Bob and Ann Fairbanks.
