Richard Rich Jacobsen

Visitation: Friday, August 22, 2003 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services: Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City

Internment: will follow in the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City

Richard Lee Jacobsen, age 59, of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.

Richard was born in Portland, Oregon on April 21, 1944 the son of Mabel (Roppe) and Oswald Jacobsen. From Oregon, they settled in Beach, North Dakota where they farmed for several years. They then moved to Glendive, Montana where he attended high school and graduated in 1963. He attended college in Glendive and met his wife Pam in Miles City. They were married on August 13, 1966. On December 30, 1971, their only child Stefanie was born.

One of the most important things in his life, besides his family, was his music. He had an affinity for music it was his passion. He liked all types of music, and was a completely self-taught and very talented musician. Throughout the years among the instruments he learned to play were piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, violin, banjo, and he also sang. He was well known throughout Miles City and the surrounding area for his talent and love for music. Richs music career spanned over 45 years.

Richard is survived by his wife, Pamela (Tucker) Jacobsen; his daughter Stefanie (Jacobsen) Pickering; his son-in-law, Dean Pickering; and his grandchildren: Nathan and Katie Pickering; and his partner John Jackson and his wife Glenda all of Miles City. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Velma Eastwood and her husband Leonard of Portland, OR; Clifford Jacobsen and his wife Joan of Sheridan, WY; Euphie Eallonardo and her husband Charles of California; Buddy Jacobsen and his wife Shirley of Sheridan, WY; Roger Jacobsen and his wife Jean of Columbia Falls, MT; Vernie Jacobsen and his wife Jean of Billings, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and a brother, Kenny.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 22, 2003 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City. A reception will follow at the VFW Hall. Condolences may be sent to the family by visitingwww.stevensonandsons.com.

    I will never forget the kindness Rich showed me over the years and never forgot even when we lost touch..i always play the music he made and sent to me. My life is better because of him.The grief i feel at the loss of such a wonderful person i cannot describe with words,but the love i felt for him will forever remain inside my heart.My deepest condolences to his family.
