On the morning of December 11, 2018 Richard (Rich) Ray Quinlan died peacefully in his home with his loving wife and daughter by his side. He fought a valiant battle with cancer.
Richard was the third child and son of Donald and Virginia Quinlan. He was born in Forsyth, Montana on February 14, 1964. He grew up and went to school in Forsyth, where he graduated in 1983. He went on to the Motor Cycle Mechanic School in Phoenix, AZ.
He moved back to Montana where he worked several mechanic and various other jobs. He finally took a job driving a sanitation truck for Rick Rost at Waste Solutions. Later, Waste Solutions was bought out by MC Sanitation where Richard continued to work until his passing.
Richard was always willing to help anyone that needed a hand. He also loved to collect cars and other various vehicles. He also seemed to have a knack for finding parts and pieces for anything mechanical. If you needed it, ask Richard and he’d find it sooner or later. Richard also enjoyed reading about gold panning. He liked to dabble at gold panning and metal detecting. He also liked agate hunting, making knife handles, and pumpkin head scarecrows.
Richard met the love of his life, Wanda Monte, in 1996, and they married on May 25, 2004. With this union Richard became a father to Sammie and in 1998 they added to the family with another daughter, Alex.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda, his daughters Alex and Sammie (Jeff) Stein, a granddaughter Jazzy Stein, his parents Donald and Virginia, his brothers Ed (Gladys), and Gary (Clenora), along with several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by both his parental and maternal grandparents, along with several aunts and uncles.
Richard’s family would like to thank all the people who came into Richard’s life. They would especially like to thank all the people who gave their time during his illness. All the great bunch of people he worked with and for at MC Sanitation, and the hospice workers for their care and compassion. And a special thanks to Shannon from Palliative Care.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

To the Family of Richard Quinlan,
Even though I did not know him personally, many of my family members and friends did, and so I send out my condolences. How well my family knows of the devastating loss of our loved ones who were victims of cancer.

I was fortunate enough to work with Rich for a few years when we worked for one of the dealerships in Miles City. He always came to work happy and ready to work. For the most part, he would do whatever was asked of him and he did it to the best of his ability. He was very intelligent and was always willing to share that knowledge with you whether you asked for it or not. He was a great person and I’m sure he was a great husband and father. My condolences to Rich’s family.
Mark says
I would like to express my deepest sympathy for the loss you have suffered! Please know that God is a God of all comfort and he will be there for you during this time! God truly cares for you. Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” -John 11:25. Yes, God truly cares about us and Jesus tells us we will see our loved ones again! I hope this brings you a measure of comfort.
