Richard Schwartz, age 65, of Billings formerly of Fallon

Richard John Lee Schwartz, age 65, of Billings formerly of Fallon passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in Billings.

Richard “Little Beads” in the Chippewa Cree Tribe was born on June 22, 1950 in Harlem, Montana on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation. He was adopted at the age of seven in 1958 by Jacob and Erna Schwartz of Fallon, Montana, where he joined his five year old brother Keith. He attended elementary school in Fallon through 8^th grade and attended high school in Terry, graduating in May of 1969. He participated in baseball while growing up and in high school he enjoyed football, track and wrestling. He joined the Navy in May of 1969 and was honorably discharged in November of 1969. Following the service, his life changed. Richard lived in various veterans’ homes in Montana and Wyoming. His last years were spent at Park View Care in Billings.

Richard enjoyed his cars, fishing and traveling to visit family.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Erna Schwartz. He is survived by his brother Keith (Sharon) Schwartz of Baker, MT; three nephews: Michael Schwartz of Baker, MT and his son Kobee; Paul (Bridget) Schwartz of Baker and their sons Aidyn and Cru and daughter Devyn; and Joshua (Carrie) Schwartz of Baker, MT and their daughters Kylie and Aubryn and son Bryant; Niece Anna (Michael) Schultz and their daughter Alivia and sons Riley and Lucas; an uncle Sonny Diegel of Glendive, MT; and aunt Olga (Ozzie) Kaul of Vancouver, WA; and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 1:00-7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope American Lutheran Church in Fallon. Interment will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry with full military honors. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Terry is in charge of the arrangements.
