Richard Lee (Dick) Shields left us peacefully on April 17, 2005, at the age 72, in Miles City, MT.
Dick was born on October 31, 1932 in San Fransico, California. He was the oldest of three children born to James BurnsSheilds and Alberta Gertrude Enslow. Dick graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, CA. In 1953, Dick was drafted into the U.S. Army, and along with his new wife Joan, they were stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. In 1962, Dick married Barbara Ann McKee. Dick lived and worked almost all his life in California. He was a mechanical design draftsman. In 1997, after 26, years in Santa Cruz, CA, ready to retire, he and Barb decided to move lock, stock and barrel to Miles City, MT. He loved Montana and had many friends here. Dick will be greatly missed. Dick enjoyed bowling and his and Barbs volunteer work with the C.O.P.S. Program.
Dick leaves his wife Barb, children Jamie Clouse-Fasthorse, Robyn Shields and Rick Shields, 8 grandchildren:Briana, Nathan, David, Danielle, Montana and Kenni Clouse and Tre and McKeelynn Kron all of Miles City, MT. His aunt Anne Enslow of Redwood City, CA, several nephews and cousins and his special friends Betty Berggren and David Blank both of CA. He had many friends in California and Oregon.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim E. and sister Jenise.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 from noon to 8:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Friends and family will meet at the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 for Graveside services with full military honors provided by Post #1579 Honor Guard of Miles City.
