In Memory Of

Richard Stennerson

Funeral Services: Friday, March 18, 2010 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth.

Richard Stennerson, age 75, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Billings Health and Rehab where he had been the past two years battling cancer. Our father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend is now reunited with his beloved wife, Ardyce Ann (Benson) Stennerson and has joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by all and especially all his special caregivers at Billings Health and Rehab plus Rocky Mountain Hospice.

Richard was born December 8, 1935 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa to Lawrence and Mae (Huffman) Stennerson. At the early age of one week old he met the love of his life Ardyce Ann Benson whom he married in 1955. They were married 52 years at the time of her death. He schooled and stayed in the Sioux Rapids area until he went to the Marines in 1954 serving 2 1/2 years state side leaving the service as a Buck Sergeant. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton CA. He returned to Sioux Rapids in March 1957 after the Marines and farmed the family farm. He has worked many jobs such as insurance salesman, rendering plant and the oil fields. He had wanted to go west for much of his life to enjoy the mountains, hunting and fishing when he left Sioux Rapids for another rendering plant in Sterling CO, it was there he started in the oil fields which took him from CO to Cut Bank MT, Kimball NE back to Cut Bank MT to Broadus MT ending this career in Miles City MT. To stay in Miles City he changed jobs to work at Miles City Packing delivering meat all around south eastern Montana.

Still wanting to stay in Miles City area due to the excellent hunting opportunities plus fishing another one of his passions, he changed jobs working for Culligan Soft Water delivering softners all around south eastern Montana. During these delivery jobs he had an opportunity for another life dream of owning his own business. The Chicken Coop was owned by the Stennersons for 32 years. During this time Richard was able to do much fishing and hunting. During fishing trips and tournaments he made many friends who meant a lot. Family meant everything to him and he truly enjoyed his family, then grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Richard belonged to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and found a special friend in Father Pashcal. He found great comfort in his faith of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife Ardyce, parents Lawrence and Mae Stennerson, his brothers Lawrence Jr. and Ronald Stennerson. He is survived by his children Rhonda Stennerson of Billings MT, Rusty (Nancy) Stennerson of Columbus MT and Randy (Cora) Stennerson of Forsyth, MT, seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

We want to express many thanks for all the people who took care of Dad during his battle with cancer, especially the CNAs and nurses at Billings Health and Rehab and with Rocky Mountain Hospice all are angels to us as they were to Dad.Memorials may be sent to Billings Health and Rehab and Rocky Mountain Hospice. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2010 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth.
