Rita Ilene Murray, age 79, of Miles City, formerly of Missoula, MT passed away at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City surrounded by the love of her family on October 20, 2006.

Rita was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on August 13, 1927 to Albert and Viola (Lindsey) Oeffling. She attended Holy Angels grade school and graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud Minnesota. Rita went to St. Benedicts and to General Hospital where she became a x-ray technician. She moved to Miles City to work as an x-ray technician at the Garberson Clinic. On September 19, 1949 Rita and William F. Murray, Jr. were married at the Sacred Heart Church in Miles City. In 1973, the family moved to Billings, MT and then to Missoula in 1975, where they lived for eight years. After Bills passing, Rita moved to Port Angeles, WA. In 1998, Rita returned to Missoula where she lived until May of 2006 when she returned to Miles City to be near her family.Rita was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to read daily, especially her prayer books. No matter where she lived, Rita was always involved in her church and bible studies.

Rita is survived by seven children; Thomas Murray of Tulsa, OK, Susan (Dan) Hollowell of Miles City, Tanis Eckart of Miles City, MT, Eric Murray of St. Cloud, MN, Lindsey (Karl) Henderson of Winona, MN, Erin (Ezekiel Williams) Murray of Denver, CO and Rosemary Murray of Cheney, WA, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one sister Joanne (Kogie) Becker of Monticello, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband William, her parents and a sister Donna.
